Early 1940's high style Sally Milgrim dark blue crepe dress with beautiful lace details. The lace is a delicate net lace, like a Chantilly. Notice the unique hip flair? This is the blue lace lined with a stiff blue horsehair, pleats tailored from the side. The bodice has a v-necklinewith tucks at the neck. The lace on the shoulders and sleeves meets the crepe with unique flower-like appliques of the crepe. The lace is lined with a flesh-toned mesh. The sleeves are cap, but the is a cuff with dramatic protruding points. The lace on the cuffs is backed with a stiffed blue mesh to hold shape. The back lace meets the crepe fabric with the same overlapping applique design. The lace backline dips low and there is a peach silk crepe lining halfway down the back. There is fine pleating at the back waist to give the back bodice slight fullness. One large pleat at the center back of the skirt. There are belt loops, but no belt.

Condition: Very good. No noticeable problems, holes or stains found. There is a straight line mend to the lace right across the top left shoulder, probably a hanger caused this. There is one other small mend in the lace on the back. There is also a couple inch span along the back waist seam where it looks like it may have been adjusted. Again, the belt is missing, but a ribbon could also work with this dress.
