Item: 5S797
Beautiful 1950's Montaldo's, early Edward Abbott fine light brown chantilly lace evening dress with a unique bow and ribbon design. Illusion bodice made of the chantilly lace over a matching net for support. A rounded neckline and 3/4 length sleeves. The rayon bustier underneath has transparent mesh straps and a trim around the top of the same mesh. Boning for shape. The skirt is the chantilly lace with a scalloped hemline over the satin bow and ribbon that are appliqued to a tulle under layer, which is over a second tulle under layer. The chantilly lace over-skirt dips lower in the back and the back waist of the skirt has a dipped contour also, creating a sophisticated look. Rayon underskirt. Labels read, "Montaldos" and "Edward Abbott." Early Edward Abbott dresses are very flattering and well made. [photographed with an additional crinoline to show skirt]
Condition: Very good with no noticeable flaws. On close inspection, there are a couple small issues, which is inevitable with chantilly lace and tulle, but nothing blatant or noticeable. There is a tiny break in the second tulle under layer of the skirt, a tiny break in the lace on the skirt, and a small mend right at the hem, none are noticeable. One small mend to the lace on the bodice where the lace had unraveled, not noticeable. The mesh trimming the top of the bustier (under the lace) has some wear along the edges toward the underarm, fraying and a small hole, but not visible. This trim could be removed altogether, but the issue is not noticeable. Slight fraying to the mesh straps, but, again, this is under the lace and not noticeable. There is slight color variation on the rayon underskirt and a couple small splotches, but not noticeable or visible.
