Luxurious green and gold silk brocade cocktail dress and fur collared coat from the 1950's. Unbelievable fabric that shimmers with gold metal thread. This outfit came from the same owner as the Travilla silk brocade dress and jacket and unfortunately we cannot find a designer label. We are not familiar with Sophie Sobel of Miami Beach, but it may have been a high end dress shop. Dress has a finely tailored bodice with a curved neckline. Fitted bust, waist and hips. Straight skirt with a back kickpleat. Original belt. Metal zipper up the back. Dress is fully lined in white silk organza. Jacket has 3/4 length sleeves and hangs straight. The coat has a large blonde mink collar that is removable (many many snaps). The fur collar may not be original to the jacket. The coat is lined with a cream silk satin.
Condition: good-very good. A couple minor spots on the fabric that get lost in the busy design. There is spotting (foxing) on the inside silk lining of the jacket. It is not blatant, but there are very light brown marks throughout the lining. The silk back lining of the fur piece is worn out and should just be removed or replaced. A couple breaks in the silk organza lining which is beautiful, but not very sturdy (they never are on anything over 50 years). The dress is slightly discolored near the bottom, not blatant due to the reflective fabric. Minor, but a little wear around the belt buckle and some very slight tarnishing to the gold metal thread under the arms. The sides of the skirt have been adjusted in a couple inches as well as the underarms of the dress (taken in).
