Luxurious Sally Milgrim purple wool swing coat with plush fur trim. Milgrim began designing fashion just after WWI, opening her own exclusive NYC salon and creating a ready to wear line, operating into the 1960's. She was known as one of the first designers to use celebrities to promote her designs. It is the period between the 1920's through the 1940's that Milgrim was at the top of her game. The color is unique, a plum purple (deeper/darker hue than the photos). The coat itself falls straight with padded shoulders and wide sleeves. Cut straight down the front, no closures. The fur is attached down the front and around the sleeve cuffs. Side slit pockets. Fully lined with a plum purple silk crepe. We are not positive what the fur is, but it is light and fluffy, extremely soft.
Condition: no flaws found beyond one extremely tiny fray to the wool on the back of the collar. The wool fabric is in beautiful condition, the fur pelts are soft and
the lining has no problems - very well cared for. This is a collector's item, dramatic design & excellent condition.
