Hemlock Vintage is an exclusively online vintage clothing boutique established in December of 1999 by me, Julia, in the lovely DC suburb of Greenbelt, MD. I wanted to create a unique online vintage clothing boutique offering a fashionable well made stock, professional photography, no-nonsense descriptions of the clothing and an attractive, easy to navigate website. Back in 1999, these things were not the norm. Our selection ranges from hard to find designer items to hip urban vintage.

I opened this shop straight out of school, selling my own collection, and I have been collecting vintage clothing since I was a toddler. My dad regularly let me run loose in thrift stores, buy whatever I wanted, helping to develop my unique sense of style. Thanks to my background in photography and design, I do all of the photography and designed the website.

Everything on the site is handpicked and priced based on quality and style. We inspect every piece of clothing up and down, inside and out, clean and refurbish what can be cleaned and refurbished, and list any flaws. One of our favorite customers said it best, "Everything that I have received from you always exceeds my expectations. Your pictures and descriptions are the most well represented on the web as I have been to every vintage house possible, but the clothes are always true to description but so much more beautiful than I am expecting."
